U.S. to Host 2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Finals

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is set to return to the U.S. next year for the first time since 2005 as Windham Mountain Resort in New York has been chosen to host the series finale August 28-29, 2010. After successfully hosting a 2008 national calendar event, Windham Mountain resort hosts a UCI Category 1 event this year as the sixth stop on the 2009 USA Cycling Pro Cross Country and Gravity Mountain Bike Tours. When the World Cup visits Windham in 2010, the resort will set the stage for the world’s top mountain bikers to duke it out one last time in the cross-country, downhill, and four-cross disciplines before heading to Mont-Saint-Anne, Quebec for the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, August 31 – September 5, 2010.

Nathan Rennie Team Update: Training for Worlds…

Those of you keeping an eye on the Downhill World Cup series will have noticed one rider missing from the start list at Maribor last weekend, Nathan Rennie. Rennie has decided to head home and train for the Worlds in September. Here is the official word from the team and the press release from the Maribor race where Mitch Delfs took a great 9th place.

Fabien Barel Wins Maribor World Cup!

Fabien Barel won the thrilling Maribor World Cup DH race today with a time of 3:03.33 just 0.71 ahead of last years winner Sam Hill. The win is pretty remarkable given the wobbly nature of Fabien’s knee at the moment after his big pre season smash in South Africa. Barel said he didn’t expect to do so well on this physically demanding course and had to dig really deep on the lower sections. 
Hill described a few twitchy moments which cost him valuable time on a track that really suited the Specialized rider.
